Yoohoo...
After resting over the weekends after the May holiday trips , roomie n i set off on monday to tour Shanghai Urban Planning Museum situated along People Square Avenue. The tics costed 40rmb but with student card entitled to 50% discount , but i was forgetful enuff to forgot to bring my card out and ended paying the full price.
There are a total of 5 levels in the building. The overall outer appearance of this building has the british colony feel. On the ground level entrance , once i entered, i was greeted with this "egypt" style gold building model structure spinning slowly in front of me. Juz besides it, was this mini shanghai building structure models.
Next, i went up to this sub-level of first level , and was introduced to Shanghai historic story and watched a short video on the transformation of Shanghai from a small fishing village to this metropolitian city. On the 2nd level , was this oil painting enhibitions, both roomie n i skipped that part. Went up straight to the 3rd level, where the bigger scale Shanghai building structure is located. It stands in the middle of the level , occupying a humogous space. I was trying to look out for my flat , but could not find as the whole model was too big enuff , it's like looking for a needle in the hay. At the sides , there are enhibits on the history of Shanghai. On the 4th level, there are more exhibits on eco-shanghai , transport lines , Pudong airport , water/waste distribution system, future plans etc. We skipped the 5th level as it is a cafe.
After a day tour, i was more educated on Shanghai and its history. Was quite amazed at its transformation. When we were juz abt to leave the building, i saw this sign "1930 Shanghai" and decided to try our luck in exploring the basement. Walked down this "metal" stairs , and was lucky enuff to find this stretch of old shanghai street-like place. The decor was similar to Shanghai in 1930s. This street is lined with cafes along its sides.
Planned to watch spiderman 3 with roomie after the urban planning trip, but blurie me forgot to bring the student card and so we decided to give up this idea and went to have lunch @Raffles City. We chose SUKiYaki sushi as we got the cravings for the ramen. Ate a variety of sushis, shared a bowl of char siew ramen and ordered pumpkin tempuras. Spent like 103 rmb. But enjoyed the meal.
After this hearty meal, we decided to walk to Jing An Si, where our housemates said they found this shopping street behind the Jiu Guang shopping centre. Along the way, we walked past this 石门一路and there was this food street where i got my ice blended mango drink. At least the stall uses real mango flesh. Continued walking and saw this Grand Cathedrale @ West Nanjing Road. Roomie wanted to take a pic but we could not find a nice spot to shoot the image so gave up the idea. After 40 mins, we reached the shopping street.
The shoppping street is cladded with small stalls selling fashion. The price is much neg and almost like those in 7 pu. Shopped ard eagerly till ard 7pm, when most stalls were packing u, then we left the place.
Had a tiring day ... but was looking forward to watch Spiderman 3 tmr...
